We have been looking into whether potential customers take notice of mistakes in promotional and advertising material and how it affects their choices of where they do business. We have discovered that yes, potential customers do think twice if there are mistakes. To many people, mistakes imply shoddy workmanship or carelessness, not just in a business’s advertising, but in the business as a whole. What is of great interest to us is: as a business owner do you care enough to make sure your material is correct? We think that if a business goes to the trouble and expense of generating promotional material, then it’s worth making sure that mistakes don’t detract from the message. Do you think twice about doing business with a company that has mistakes in their material?

Those who left comments on our survey overwhelmingly wanted to keep reading print books, loved browsing bookshops and touching books. They were also intrigued by the e-book phenomenon and were interested in learning about it and giving it a go! It surprised us that only 20% of our respondents had an e-reader and they were fairly evenly spread between the Kindle and Ipad. Local libraries are still popular as is passing books around amongst friends. There was certainly a mix of buying e-books and reading free ones. Overall our survey told us that the printed version of a book is still alive and well but people are becoming interested in e-books and e-readers. I guess nothing new there! There were comments regarding the editing standards of e-books and that is where we come in. Email or call us and we will be happy to let you know how we can help you put the best product you possibly can out onto the world stage! We loved reading your responses to our survey and thankyou to those who filled it in.

First impressions are vital. We will ensure that the first impression your document makes is the best one. At Proof-right we will fine-tune your document, manuscript or sheet music by correcting errors of spelling, grammar and punctuation and improving the formatting. We are often asked why a proofreader is needed to do something the author can do him or herself. The answer is simply that we have been trained to find errors and will examine the document with fresh eyes. Got a question? Feel free to contact us for more details. Send us a small sample of your work so that we can give you a firm quote for proofreading and/or copyediting it.
